A Person Who Educates

Are you aware that before going to school, a child learns the most by looking at a model? The children are not brought up by a programme. The most important person is a person who educates..

The Return to Nature Kindergarten and Higher Pre-School exists for 10 years. We have become recognizable to the wide and professional public thanks to the way we work with children and through the content we public on social media. A great number of parents in the whole Serbia follows our work. We are proud we have gained in November an official professional recognition.

UNICEF has pointed out our kindergarten as one of three European Kindergartens (the other one is an Italian and the third is a Swedish kindergarten) with good practice.

Openness towards public has helped us to meet the right persons who educate. Over the years we have been contacted by the scientists and artists who wanted to get their work closer to the children. Today, the team of Povratak prirodi consists of these enthusiasts. They are not external associates, but permanently employed staff.

The professions of the persons who educate in our team are: educator, pedagogue, psychologist, speech therapist, music teacher, teacher of physical education, professor of foreign languages, biologist, geographer, sociologist, linguist, literary professor, special educator, artist.

“I can tell you that I have totally different perspective on the content that is being offered to children ever since I am in Povratak prirodi. And I am very angry that it is ultra-modern to serve the children hypnotizing kid’s songs, stereotyped cartoons, expensive toys that have no use… Do you know what our children play with? With everything they find in the yard (which is a completely different story –spacious and has the garden, sandstone, little house and a classroom on a tree. Farm in the middle of the city.) They play with cardboard boxes. Clay. Colours. Children use their imagination. Just like we used to play.”
(Đurđa Pokrajac, professor of Serbian language and literature, from the text: Talking to a friend about Povratak prirodi)
Please look into the album about our educators

For us – the kindergarten is our home. If at home there are no doors through which the children cannot enter, then why should there be closed doors in the kindergarten? The walls are work of art all covered with children’s works. The walls are an additional educator that arouses desire to create, they build the children’s style and taste and encourage self-confidence.

During the day, the children change the rooms regularly as well as the adults who work with them. They go outside every day, because the courtyard is a central room in the kindergarten.

You will never see our daily timetable. Do you think the best way for a child to learn something is to be told about one subject from 10 to 10.30 and then to stop it since the other subject should start? We have a different approach.

A child learns about life from life itself, not from partial reality. For a child, life is a spontaneous game. Through game the children can freely research, observe, and ask questions… And they learn.

Our task to shape the programme, so it can correspond to a free game and at the same time to cover all the areas that encourage the overall development of a personality, we have accomplished through integrative planning and by working with children on the projects.

By using integrative planning we approach a subject from various angles and we process it multidisciplinary – without strict separation on speech development, logic-mathematical intelligence, science, artistic and the others, but holistic. The emphasis is on creation, not on the result. In the process of creation, through proper professional guidance, the children spontaneously activate all of their intellectual capacity, thus developing speech, and logic-mathematical intelligence, science, artistic, motor intelligence and all the others.

The music that the children listen to is very important for their development. It increases attention and intelligence. By listening to different genres they develop a musical taste.

In Povratak prirodi we listen to rock, jazz, blues, classical music, music that arises positive feelings, folk music of some nations like our original folk music, canons, chansons, bossa nova… The music is determined by the programme itself, so you should not be surprised to hear some tribal rhythms when you come or some old music you have not heard for years.

Most teachers, besides their profession, have also music education. Through music they represent the programme, through music they lead the children. The music teacher regularly practices rhythms, singing and playing together with children.

The Povratak prirodi’s programme has been accredited by the Ministry of Education and Technological Development.

Please find how UNICEF has pointed out our kindergarten as one of three European kindergartens with good practice. Povratak prirodi in the company with the best European kindergartens.

We enroll children during the whole year. Please fill in the form and check if we have vacancy. Bear in mind, the child’s age is a compulsory field. On questionnaires sent after 15h or over the weekend, we respond the next day i.e. on Monday. Thank you!
